Library

We strive to provide a friendly educational environment for our students and to be supportive of both teachers and students in their inquiry learning.

Our collection includes a number of fiction, nonfiction and language books with tapes, CDs and VCD’s. We are currently building our collection of mother tongue language books and would welcome donations of these to the school library.

The library is open from 8.30 am to 2.45pm and lunch time access to the library is also encouraged and managed through a library pass system. Children are also able to borrow or return books, with permission from their class teachers, during the school day.

Each class has a 45 minute planned library session within the 6 day school cycle. During this time, the children will be returning school library books as well as choosing and borrowing others.

We encourage children to use this time well and to develop their interest in reading books from various genres, both fiction and non fiction. Most of all, we hope children will enjoy the books we have in the library and grow to become lifelong readers.

We welcome and encourage parents to come and help in the library. Some of the work parents may help with include preparing new books for borrowing as well as repairing and rewrapping books. If you are more adventurous, help is always needed with shelving books and shelf reading.

Our library has approximately 15000 fiction and non fiction books to support our curriculum, learning and reading for leisure. Digital technology includes a listening post that caters to a maximum of eight children, three desk top computers and ten laptops. There is also a photocopier, printer and scanner. We ask that users be aware of and respect copyrights in using these.
