PSPE

At Sha Tin Junior School students participate in a Personal, Social and Physical Education programme which has a unique and significant contribution to make to a students education. The role of PSPE in the PYP curriculum is to help contribute to the total development of the individual. Its clear goal is to contribute to the development of a student’s physical, intellectual, emotional and social maturity and to give them the skills to make healthy lifestyle choices.

Personal and Social Education (PSE) is concerned with the development and growth of the individual in the community and feeling and beliefs. 
 
PSE is arranged into four stands:

Health and safety
Interaction with others
Organisation for learning
 
Physical Education (PE) offers opportunities to develop movement skills through a wide variety of physical activities where students can increase their confidence and cooperation skills. 
 
PE is arranged into six strands:
 
Health-related activities
Body control and spatial awareness
Athletic activities
Games
Movement to music
Adventure challenge
 
SJS students have access to sporting facilities such as a multi sport hall, a 25 metre indoor heated swimming pool, an astro turf football pitch and a covered and uncovered playground. 
SJS offers an extensive range of extra curricular activities to compliment the PE programme. With special events such as Year 1,2,3 Sports Day and Year 4,5,6 Sports Day and a Swimming Gala. SJS also enters many teams in ESF, International School and local sporting tournaments.
